The book chronicles almost day by day the entire journey of our seven athletes and four accompanying members to the site of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and back from July 9 to August 29, 1932. It tells stories and experiences along the way on the ship across the ocean and by train across the USA, encounters with compatriots and interesting personalities in NY, St. Louis, Chicago, and elsewhere, describes life in the Olympic village, and details the competitions of our Olympians, culminating in a triumphant return to the Old Town Square. The book draws from the personal memories of the Olympians and from the legacy of the then head of the delegation, František Widimský. The vast majority of photographs and facsimiles will be published for the very first time, and they are absolutely unique period materials.
