Description
Although Karel Kuttelwascher (1916–1959) was the most successful Czech RAF fighter pilot during World War II, only one book monograph, originally published in English, has been dedicated to his life so far. This significant gap in our historiography is now being addressed by the publication of a well-known Czech expert on aviation history. The book presents Kuttelwascher's fate from childhood through his service in the pre-war Czechoslovak Air Force to his combat career in France and especially in Great Britain, where he became one of the greatest fighter aces as a specialist in night attacks on enemy airfields. Kuttelwascher's post-war emigration is also recalled, which ended with his untimely death at the young age of 42.
