Memories of friends about the remarkable life of our legendary athlete, who would have celebrated her 100th birthday in September 2022. Much has been written about the sporting success of this Olympian and world record holder in javelin throw, however, the authors present Mrs. Dana not only as a sporting personality but also as a lady full of optimism and unique charm. She was characterized by three qualities – courage, humility, and individuality. Dana Zátopková (†97) was not just a double Olympic medalist, a world record holder, a coach, and the wife of Emil Zátopek (†78). She loved to sing folk songs and never denied the Moravian woman living in Prague. She was full of energy until her late age. All of this was well known to her friends, who in the book tell what Mrs. Dana was really like. Of course, it cannot be overlooked that her husband Emil would also have celebrated his hundredth birthday in the same year, on the same day (September 19, 2022). We will also encounter memories of him and their mutual life in the recollections of personalities from the world of sports and culture.
