Havel – Emmert František (2021)

This well-written and clearly structured book presents an attractive and comprehensible portrayal of Václav Havel's personality in all its dimensions and social roles, aided by rich visual material. It depicts him as a child from a family stigmatized by the totalitarian regime, as an active young man influenced by the ideals of the 1960s, as a young successful playwright, later as a civic activist, dissident, political prisoner, and finally as president and a moral authority of international significance. It gradually guides the reader through his life story. However, it not only reminds us of Václav Havel himself but also of the era in which he lived and the surroundings that influenced and inspired him. The publication is released on the tenth anniversary of Havel's passing.
