History has its memory, but it also knows the fates of complete oblivion. For hundreds of years, the work of an unknown anonymous from the late 14th century, now referred to by the placeholder name Master of the Třeboň Altarpiece, fell into complete oblivion. From the mid-19th century until the 1960s, the history of eight gradually discovered and restored panel paintings is being written. The book 'Master of the Třeboň Altarpiece in the Mirror of His Time' brings the reader closer to the work of this master of the 'beautiful style' both from an art-historical perspective and in the context of the time in which the author lived, and presents a number of impressive illustrations.
