Description
A direct sequel to the first Star Trek film from 1979. Shortly after the incredible encounter with the giant artificial intelligence V'Ger, Captain Kirk and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise are haunted by memories of the sacrifice their friend and colleague Willard Decker made by merging with the mysterious alien object. As James T. Kirk, Spock, and Leonard McCoy try to come to terms with the recent events, another chapter of their shared past opens, raising similarly profound philosophical questions about faith, humanity, and artificial intelligence. The recently settled world of Daran IV, home to former Fabrin refugees from the starship Yonada, is divided by conflicting ideologies – those clinging to a theocratic past must confront visionaries looking toward a future based on purely rational thinking. The Enterprise officers, who years ago overthrew the Oracle, a god in the machine controlling Yonada, are confronted with the consequences of their past actions after their fateful encounter with V'Ger and must face decisions that will affect the fate of an entire civilization and may change them forever.
