As strange as it may sound, the only thing that can currently give Eva Petry Soukupová a sense of freedom is fried chicken wings – at least that's what her best friend Renata thinks. In the case of Karel, the main character of Petra Dvořáková's story, the situation is much clearer. Only the blue book will open the doors to a brilliant music career in the West. As it later turns out, all it takes to obtain it is to be honest and natural. Líba, whom Markéta Pilátová allowed to cross the border into Germany in '48, has no problem with either, so she could experience the most beautiful and freest phase of her life during a month-long voyage to Argentina. The heroines of the stories by Ani Geislerová and Irena Hejdová coincidentally experience the last moments before their wedding – it should be noted that they probably imagined it in many ways, just not like this. Daniel and David, the oddballs from the stories of Anna Bolavá and Bianca Bellová, also have something in common. Both show the main characters what true friendship is, which shapes you for a lifetime – after all, the hero of Marek Epstein's text also invokes ancient loyal friendships.
