Description
This illustrated publication, primarily composed of unique photographs from the personal archive of actress Lída Baarová, sheds light on the lesser-known period of her life after her emigration in 1948. From a famous celebrity of the First Republic and Protectorate with a controversial reputation, she transforms in exile into a principled actress who collaborates with directors of Italian neorealism, films in Madrid, and performs on Austrian and German theater stages, where she achieves enormous success, for example, with Čapek's 'The Makropulos Affair.' The book presents a different, almost unknown side of the actress in the Czech Republic, who managed to overcome the harsh blows of fate. The extensive visual material from the vast archive of collector Jiří Tauchen also includes dozens of images from lesser-known films that Lída Baarová made in Germany and Italy between 1934 and 1944.
