Description

Germany, 1943. Hans Heigel, an SS officer stationed in the town of Osnabrück, does not understand the aggression with which his country has recovered from the First World War, nor does he agree with it. Nevertheless, the fear of repercussions for his family and life in a small town, far from the horrors of the front and concentration camps, convinces him to keep his thoughts to himself and forces him to silently endure even the most absurd policies of the Reich. It is more important to take care of his wife Ingrid and especially his beloved daughter Hanne. But how long can a person overlook their own values just to lead a dull, untroubled life? Hans realizes this when he encounters the worst tragedy that can happen to a father, and at the same time discovers that he has been transferred to the extermination camp in Sobibor. Suddenly, he can no longer close his eyes to the horrific deeds that tarnish Germany's reputation. Even more so when he meets Lea, a Jewish girl who looks just like his daughter Hanne, among the prisoners condemned to death in the gas chamber. How long can a person push their limits to protect what matters to them? Day by day, Hans devises new tricks to rescue one of the female prisoners from the clutches of her sealed fate. In doing so, he deceives his fellow soldiers and makes decisions that will haunt him forever...
