Description
The book recalls the fate of orphans from the labor camp in Buchenwald. When American soldiers liberated the camp on April 11, 1945, they discovered nearly a thousand starving Jewish boys in one block, who had lost their loved ones and were left alone. Thanks to the help of other prisoners who protected them and found food for them, they managed to survive. One of these boys was Elie Wiesel. After their liberation, a foundation was established that gradually ensured their resettlement to France and other countries. The story of the Buchenwald orphans is told in this book from the perspective of a fourteen-year-old Romani boy, Wajsman, later Robbie Waisman, who settled in Canada.
