S lékaři v první linii – Klicperová Lenka (2020)

March 2020. The pandemic of the new coronavirus from China paralyzed the Czech Republic. Borders are closing. Reporter Lenka Klicperová cannot move anywhere – neither to war-torn Syria nor to Somalia. However, the front line suddenly becomes clear in a completely different place – in Czech hospitals. How did Czech doctors cope with the pandemic that affected the whole world? In what ways were they much better than others? Klicperová, later joined by her partner from Syria, Markéta Kutilová, began visiting COVID centers in Czech hospitals. First, Prague's Bulovka and Motol, then other regional hospitals. Both reporters traveled together with a testing team, participated in operations, and spent time with doctors and nurses in the wards. They gathered a wealth of information, interviewing doctors, nurses, paramedics, senior care workers, and laboratory staff during both day and night shifts. The main burden of the fight against the new coronavirus rested on the shoulders of healthcare workers. And Czech healthcare workers excelled in this battle. The book is meant to be a tribute to doctors, nurses (both civilian and military), and other healthcare personnel who did not hesitate and performed their duty without any signs of hesitation or fear of infection or death.
