Description
Prince Franz Joseph Auersperg and his wife Wilhelmina are preparing a grand celebration for their silver wedding anniversary at their castle in Žleby. Around two hundred aristocrats from across Europe are expected to attend, including members of royal families. Georgian anarchist Simon Ter Petrosyan, a former associate of Stalin during his gangster days in the Caucasus, wants to take advantage of this. He is on the run and finds refuge with a group of East Bohemian anarchists led by Václav Hora, a shoemaker in Chrudim. He is determined to blow up the Auerspergs and their guests. At the castle, he also finds an accomplice, Vincent Hora, a tutor of one of the princely children and Václav's brother. Strange events unfold, with unpredictable moves from many characters in the story, yet everything leads to a bloody climax... The story is based on real events from the early years of the last century, and the author brilliantly depicts the conditions and relationships within the Auersperg family and among their staff, particularly the tutors of the five princely children.
