Description
Prominent Czech art historian Pavel Štěpánek traces the contact of the genius Spaniard with the Czech environment from the very beginning, i.e., from the first meeting before World War I, during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in Paris, where he was first recognized by Alfons Mucha. He captures how Czech artists and critics visited Picasso and how they got to know him both personally and indirectly. However, the main emphasis is placed on tracking critical statements and opinions about his work in the Czech context. The book is supplemented with reproductions of Picasso's artworks.
