KINŠTÍ – Juřík Pavel (2019)

The Kinský family is among the most significant noble families of the Kingdom of Bohemia and the Habsburg monarchy. Their roots trace back to the 13th century. In 1628, they were elevated to the rank of count, and in 1720, a princely branch was established, from which the countly branch of Kostelec separated. The Kinský castles in Chlumec nad Cidlinou, Kostelec nad Orlicí, and Žďár nad Sázavou are popular destinations for history and tourism enthusiasts. Significant traces of the Kinský family can also be found in other places, such as Prague, Heřmanův Městec, Chroustovice, Sloup, Nový Bor, and Budenice. Among the long line of notable family members, we can mention Count Vilém or Oktavián, as well as Princes Štěpán and Rudolf Kinský and Field Quartermaster František Josef Kinský. We must not forget the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Baroness Bertha von Suttner or the only winner of the Velká pardubická, Lata Brandisová. The book 'Kinský, God, Honor, Homeland' provides a comprehensive view of the history and legacy of the Kinský family, information about its most significant personalities, clear family trees of the main branches, and descriptions of coats of arms. Nearly three hundred photographs capture portraits of family members and their most significant residences.
