In this part, the author focuses on the analysis of academic institutions, their design, and management methods. He characterizes academic identity, culture, and values. Special attention is given to the academic profession, its specifics, and conditions. The culmination of the entire trilogy is a chapter on the vicissitudes of our domestic academic world (academies of sciences and universities) after 1945. The author tracks key transformations to clarify the current state, not shying away from "hot" issues such as accreditation, accountability, evaluation, rankings, etc., which he views through a critical lens.
