Imagine there is a death lottery. Anyone can submit the name of a person they hate on the lottery's website. Every year on August 8th, the organizers draw one of the submitted names and publish it. The chosen individual becomes an outlaw for one night. Anyone in Germany can kill them without punishment and will receive ten million euros as a reward. This is a societal psychological experiment that gradually spirals out of control.
Ben Rühmann is drowning in problems. He can no longer make a living from music, his wife has left him, and he is unable to pay rent. His daughter is in a wheelchair after an accident, which led her to attempt suicide, and now she lies in a coma. Ben discovers that his name has been drawn in the death lottery. He is not alone; another victim is psychology student Arezu. Will they help each other?
