Description
The detective novel 'And Then There Were None' from 1955 is being published for the first time in Slovak translation, and although it is one of Agatha Christie's lesser-known works, fans of the legendary author will find much to enjoy once again. Alongside the fabulous Hercule Poirot, the detective's efficient, nearly perfect secretary Miss Lemon also appears. And it is Miss Lemon who alerts Hercule Poirot to the strange events at the student boarding house Tulipán on Hickory Road, managed by her sister Mrs. Hubbard. Under normal circumstances, petty thefts would hardly pique the famous detective's interest. However, when he reads the bizarre list of stolen and destroyed items - including a stethoscope, a powder compact, old trousers, a box of chocolates, a cut-up backpack, and a diamond ring that was later found in soup - he must congratulate Mrs. Hubbard on a 'unique and amazing puzzle.' The list makes absolutely no sense, yet Poirot cannot get it out of his mind: If these are just ordinary thefts and the perpetrator is a harmless kleptomaniac, then why are the residents of the boarding house so frightened?
