Description
The monograph is dedicated to architect Miloš Laml (1884–1964), who was professionally connected with Brno, but his architectural and urban studies and projects impacted the regions of southern, central, and northern Moravia and Silesia. Although he left behind an extensive body of work, no comprehensive study has yet been created to present it all. Yet, in his school buildings, students still learn, in his hospital constructions, patients are treated, and in his family and apartment buildings, people still reside. Pavel Šopák's publication (FA VUT) presents for the first time in a coherent form Laml's realized and unrealized projects, among which are the stadium and community center of Sokol Brno I on Kounicova Street, the building of the Institute of Forensic Medicine on Tvrdého Street in Brno, the State Teacher Training Institute in Valašské Meziříčí, or the complex of a lung sanatorium in Jablunkov. The text is accompanied by an extensive visual appendix in the form of plan documentation and contemporary and historical photographs.
