Description
The post-war urbanization of Czechoslovak cities is associated with the phenomenon of socialist construction in housing – housing estates. The 1960s were characterized by architects' efforts to improve the quality of the living environment in mass construction. An interesting representative of such built housing estates is Brno's Lesná, designed by the architectural team of Zounek, Rudiš, Dufek, and Volák, which is rightly considered a significant achievement of Czechoslovak urbanism and architecture. The book 'Brno Phenomenon Lesná' presents a comprehensive summary of the historical and construction development of the housing estate in all contexts, from design, through the typology of individual buildings, to the problems the estate had to face after the social changes of 1989.
