Dear students, dear readers, for the third and final time we meet in Mathematics for Understanding and Practice. The metaphorical spiral of mathematical knowledge has reached its third turn. This does not mean that mathematical knowledge ends here; it continues into specialized disciplines, the multitude of which cannot be captured by one, even if multi-part, textbook, nor by a single author or authorial collective. Although we still focus on issues falling within the realm of mathematical analysis and linear algebra, reading the text, or at least some of its parts, requires a somewhat more advanced mathematical background. Nevertheless, we still strive for illustrative explanations even for more difficult concepts and adhere to the 'principle of teaching through examples,' as we set out in the previous two parts. Like the previous parts, the text of this part is intended for students in fields that utilize mathematics, especially for physics students, but also for students from other natural science disciplines who wish to familiarize themselves with 'more advanced' mathematical procedures. For students of 'pure' mathematics, who are accustomed to the 'definition-theorem-proof' style of explanation, sample problems or exercises can serve as orientation in more practical issues.
