Description
The publishing house of the Brno University of Technology, Vutium, makes available in this book three writings by Erwin Schrödinger (August 12, 1887 – January 4, 1961): the physicobiological work What Is Life? (1944), famous for its clairvoyant prediction of the structure and function of the genetic code; the extensive philosophical essay Mind and Matter (1958), based on a scientific approach to the age-old problem of human existence; and the conceptually original outline of his autobiography My Life (1960). The intellectual interconnectedness of the entire trio is also reflected in the Afterword by Václav Pačes, which provides a concise overview of the birth and development of molecular genetics from the 1940s to the present, illuminating both Schrödinger's intellectual achievement and his inspirational impact on molecular biological research.
