The fourth volume of the collected works of Jan Firbas contains articles published between 1987 and 1993. During this period, the author deepens the analysis of the relationship between intonation and functional sentence perspective, refines the definition of the starting point of the statement, and addresses questions of potentiality and immediately relevant context. Like the previous three volumes, covering works from 1951 to 1986, the fourth volume also includes prefaces, annotations, and biographical notes.
