Description
The book presents peer learning among part-time students as a significant part of their higher education experience. Based on existing research, it states that peer learning is related to academic success, satisfaction with studies, and academic engagement, and on this basis summarizes the possibilities for supporting peer learning at universities. Qualitative research on peer learning among part-time students in pedagogical fields offers a description of the contextual characteristics that influence peer learning, as well as a description of peer learning situations. Based on patterns in the occurrence of learning situations, three types of peer learning among part-time students are defined: studying alongside each other, studying together, and studying because of each other. For each type, its specific benefits for the involved students are explained, as well as the optimal supportive measures for that type of peer learning.
