Description
The influence and significance of religion and Christian tradition in the specific cultural-geographical construction of Central Europe has become a significant impulse for the creation of national (self)images. This book reflects on spiritually and religiously oriented literary activities, which have also been used as a means of cultural homogenization and cultural diversification. In an effort to draw public attention to the possibilities of various perspectives on literary images, clichés, national symbols, or myths, the authors employ tools of comparative imagology. They take into account various significant non-literary circumstances and expand the discourse by analyzing cultural images of the Christian tradition precisely as a means of cultural and national (self)identification. Thus, the publication contributes to intercultural dialogue and becomes a valuable entry into the ongoing discussion about the significance of literary creation by authors associated with religious-spiritual values in terms of creating (one's own) cultural image.
