Description
An epilinguistic perspective of Quebec teenagers on the linguistic situation in Quebec. The main theme of this book is the empirical verification of widely held assumptions regarding young people's attitudes toward the current linguistic situation in the Canadian province of Quebec. The analysis, based on quantitative and qualitative field research (Gatineau, Montreal, Quebec, Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier), consists of 683 questionnaires and over 7 hours of audio recordings of interviews. The analysis works with the following factors: age (the average age of respondents was 14.8 years), gender, and place of residence. The division of respondents into three language groups subsequently contributed to determining whether unilingualism, bilingualism, or multilingualism plays a crucial role in the diversification of their opinions.
