Sto tváří, sto příběhů - Vybrané osobnosti v dějinách Filozofické fakulty Masarykovy univerzity – group of authors (2021)

The book commemorating the centenary of the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University is also a contribution to the university-wide jubilee. Its goal is to recap the history of the faculty through a biographical method, that is, with the help of short biographies representing the profiles of significant or interesting personalities connected by their fate and work with the faculty. While a biographical perspective has certainly not been absent in the existing research on the history of the school, such a comprehensive collection of biographies has not yet been gathered. However, the publication offers more: the authors utilize an extensive set of biographical data to interpret the history of the faculty from the perspective of the alternation of academic generations, reflecting on the formative generational experiences and the phenomena that have influenced the lives of academics and students over the past hundred years. These phenomena include both positive and negative aspects; therefore, the publication is not merely an overview of deserving personalities, respected scientists, and charismatic educators, but it also openly discusses the life stories of controversial academics. The collection of biographies thus provides a credible testimony to the century-long work of the faculty, in which study, science, and politics are permanently intertwined.
