Description
The publication offers a look back at the hundred years of existence of Masaryk University in Brno and complements the MUNI100 exhibition. The exhibition maps three fundamental questions regarding the university's development. Firstly, it recapitulates the history of the university in light of the development of the global universitas, then it tracks the main trends in the development of Czech, or rather Czechoslovak, higher education, and applies individual specifics to the Brno university. The exhibition also reflects the transformation of the Czech academic tradition, which was initially linked to German-Austrian influences, and throughout the twentieth century was particularly subject to Soviet influences, and more recently to American ones. In short, everything that Masaryk University has experienced over the past hundred years is summarized.
