A comprehensive two-volume publication (Volume 1 – 1919-1989) presents the tumultuous history of the founding faculty of Masaryk University. The first volume captures the development of the faculty from 1919 to 1939, 1945 to 1950, and 1969 to 1989. In each section, you will find primarily a description of the general happenings at the faculty, including its location, which changed several times, the organizational structure, the status of teachers and students, teaching, and scientific work. The first section, 1919-1939, chronicles the efforts to establish a Czech university in Moravia and provides a brief characterization of the situation following the closure of Czech universities. Similarly, the conclusion of the second section, 1945-1950, also recalls the fates of students, teachers, and the faculty building after 1950. In the third section, 1969-1989, the authors reflect on the preparations for the reopening of the faculty. An integral part of the History of the Faculty of Law at MU in Brno is the visual documentation, which can be divided into three parts.
