The book presents, for the first time in the history of modern Czech Germanic medieval studies, Czech-written overviews of the plots of selected literary works of the German Middle Ages, including characteristics of the main characters and their relationships with love and death. It is intended for readers who wish to delve deeper into the intricate narratives of heroic epics, courtly novels and novellas, medieval love poetry, or medieval high prose from the German-speaking environment. It provides basic information about the authors and the plots of these works, supplemented by excerpts in the original language and in translations, which, with the exception of the works "The Song of the Nibelungs" and "The Plowman from Bohemia," have been translated into Czech for the first time in modern times.
