Description
This publication deals with the interwar political party Czechoslovak National Democracy, which merged with other political entities in 1935 to form the concentration party National Unity. The left, particularly the communists, labeled Czechoslovak National Democracy as an extreme right-wing and even fascist party. During the period of communist totality, this assertion was reinforced due to ideological dogmas and phrases. Serious research work that would arrive at different conclusions than predetermined ones could not be published during totality. This book is dedicated to the internal events within Czechoslovak National Democracy, or rather within National Unity. The research focused on the connection of this party with fascism and its relationship to radical national politics. The question of whether the party became pro-fascist or managed to maintain its democratic foundation is also thematized. The power mechanisms and structures that had a fundamental influence on the direction of party politics are also explained.
