Description
This book provides a new insight into the issue of the Czech Republic's participation in multinational operations led by NATO abroad, the planning of defense policy, and the potential that the Czech Republic has for contributing to such operations. Utilizing qualitative analysis of interviews with civilian and military experts, supplemented by content analyses of relevant political and military documents, the author examines the main characteristics, specific attributes, as well as the problems that the Czech Republic has had to deal with during its adaptation to the new security environment of the 21st century. The book represents the very first case study of the implementation of NATO's counterinsurgency doctrine by a state that is not a superpower in geopolitical, economic, or military terms and that has only limited direct experience with the art of conflict management, which we now call counterinsurgency.
