The academic book focuses on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in foreign language tertiary education. Its creation was motivated by three factors: the current emphasis on the internationalization of Czech higher education, the search for opportunities to develop foreign language academic writing skills outside of contact teaching, and last but not least, the potential associated with the use of ICT in foreign language teaching in terms of fulfilling contemporary didactic principles. The central focus of this publication is the assessment of the impact of a purely e-learning course in academic writing in English on the development of the discursive competence of participating students. Based on the presented research findings, recommendations for didactic practice are formulated, and the benefits of participating in the course are evaluated.
