Description
Krystyna Kardyni-Pelikánová, a prominent Polish scholar and comparatist, emeritus senior professor, collaborator in Polish studies at Masaryk University in Brno, and a long-time research worker at the Institute of Czech Literature of the Czech Academy of Sciences, focused her scientific work primarily on Polish-Czech literary relations. Her latest book "Beautiful Bohemia, My Bohemia... Czech and Polish Literature in Mutual Interactions" is a collection of studies, essays, and sketches created in various periods and mostly already published in Czech and Polish scientific journals. All studies – based on the author's knowledge of the theory and history of both literatures, as well as the Polish and Czech cultural and social background, supplemented by penetrating analyses of literary works – are grouped around two issues that are still relevant in contemporary literary science: the issue of Czech, Polish, Central European, and Euro-Atlantic cultural group identity and the issue of Czech-Polish literary interactions.
