Description
The monograph focuses on the analysis of the argument structure of nouns in Catalan, both from a theoretical and descriptive perspective. Its purpose is to identify and systematically classify the properties of the argument structure of nouns in Catalan, provide an overview of their syntactic properties, and explain the models of regularities derived from the studied material. The primary question posed is 'How do arguments of nouns manifest syntactically in Catalan?', which is also connected to three secondary questions: 'Which nouns in Catalan accept arguments?', 'What form do nominal arguments take in Catalan? What do they depend on?', and finally, 'What is the ordering of argument complements of nouns in cases where we find multiple within a single syntagma?'. The author utilizes data on more than 200 nouns from the Computerized Text Corpus of the Catalan Language (CTILC).
