Description
The book provides an overview of historical events in Europe in the 20th century in the form of so-called factual essays. The author's intention is to select key events of this century, describe them based on the experiences of a person who lived through a significant part of it, and through reflections on the past deepen the understanding of the present. The text is characterized by a deeply human approach to historical events, as well as evidence of the author's great erudition and interdisciplinarity, confirmed by an extensive bibliography. In three chronologically arranged sections, the period from the Sarajevo assassination to the end of the independent republic is first described, followed by the course of World War II, and finally everything that changed after the war, with an emphasis on the new threats humanity faces upon entering the 21st century.
