Description
University teachers of specialized English go through a relatively difficult period during the first years of their profession, as they are generally prepared for high school teaching of general English during their studies at universities. Their previous education therefore does not provide them with the necessary knowledge from which they could develop their didactic knowledge of content. The book aims to familiarize readers with the subjective perception of these teachers' own professional beginnings, viewed retrospectively from their first three years of teaching specialized English at universities. The professional development of novice teachers was examined based on a mixed research design, where the method of semi-structured interviews conducted with several respondents was supplemented by electronic questionnaires sent to all Czech university teachers of specialized English.
