Břeclav – Pohansko VII. Kostelní pohřebiště na Severovýchodním předhradí – Dresler Petr (2016)

The book about the second church cemetery in the northeastern forecourt of the Břeclav – Pohansko hillfort concludes five years of research efforts by a team led by Prof. Jiří Macháček from Masaryk University. The publication contains comprehensive information about the population buried in this area at the end of the 9th and in the first half of the 10th century. The book consists of a complete catalog of the cemetery and an analytical and synthetic part, evaluating the funerary area from the perspectives of archaeology, history, and anthropology. This part of the book is divided into eleven main chapters: The Northeastern Forecourt in the Context of Systematic Research of Pohansko – Characteristics of the Site from the Perspective of the Natural Environment – Methodology of Archaeological Research – Extent of the Cemetery – Burial Rites – Taphonomic-Demographic Characteristics of Skeletal Finds – Artifacts as Part of Grave Goods – Chronology of the Cemetery – Spatial Structure of the Cemetery – Social Structure of the Community – Relationship between Burial and Residential Components. The book will be integrally complemented by a comprehensive publication on the skeletal remains from the cemetery, prepared by a team led by Doc. Vladimír Sládek from Charles University.
