Description
This monograph focuses on word formation processes that are traditionally classified in Spanish linguistics as part of so-called lexical morphology (i.e., suffixation, prefixation, interfixation, parasynthesis, and composition) and whose precise definition raises a number of interesting theoretical questions. The aim of the work is to clarify the causes of definitional or classificatory inconsistencies in representative grammars and treatises on word formation and, based on a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the aforementioned neological processes, to map the transitional areas that can be found, for example, between derivation and inflection, derivation and composition, or composition and the area of phraseology, which is a topic that has not yet been comprehensively addressed in Spanish scholarly literature.
