Description
The monograph focuses on word order in Bulgarian and Serbian evangelical texts from the 12th and 13th centuries. Word order changes are recorded as variants to the text of the Old Church Slavonic monument known as the Marian Gospel, and are compared with the Greek version of the gospel text. The author examines the principles by which word order is organized in the monuments from the 12th and 13th centuries and whether it differs from the word order of the Old Church Slavonic originals and the Greek original. She also addresses the question of whether the word order in these younger monuments exhibits any newer linguistic features and whether there are signs of the penetration of new word order models, or if rather archaic features are preserved.
