Description
The monograph can best be classified in the area currently referred to as the philosophy of information. Its aim is to articulate certain metatheoretical assumptions on which attempts to define the concept of information are based and which underpin the individual paradigms of information science, to shed more light on the problems associated particularly with the concept of information and the transdisciplinary nature of information science, and to propose an approach to information science that is grounded in the reasoned conclusions of metatheoretical research. Within the framework of this research, we focus on achieving three specific goals – we define the concept of information within 1. epistemology and 2. within metaphysics and 3. we create a model of the domain in which information is generated, using a functional synthesis of the three main paradigms of information science.
