Předmostí: Building an authentic museum – group of authors (2013)

The publication describes excavation work that took place in 2006, aimed at preserving parts of the Předmostí I site for public presentation. The excavations revealed a complex of two Gravettian layers that formed under conditions of a cold and dry, but generally milder climate of the interpleniglacial (MIS 3). The examined section is characterized by a centrally located accumulation of large bones, while small stone artifacts and fragments of pigment tend to gather more on the periphery of the excavation. Within the complex of Gravettian (Pavlovian) stone industries, the component documented at Předmostí Ib (lower layer) is significant as a good example of the association of geometric microliths with bone knives. The research in 2006 complements field observations of erosion and deposition processes that may have contributed to the formation (or rather deformation) of both finding situations.
