Description
The book deals with the issue of the so-called transatlantic rift, which affected relations between the USA and European powers during the first administration of President Bush. The work characterizes the transatlantic rift from multiple angles. The first part of the text examines the relationship between the superpower USA and other powers using Kenneth Waltz's neorealist theory of power balance and the theory of soft balancing. The second part looks at the relationships between great powers through the discussion of multilateralism vs. unilateralism and the theory of hegemonic stability. The third part of the text addresses European criticism of the formation of American foreign policy in terms of the influence of interest groups.
