Description
On the night of May 27, 1980, the worst massacre of civilians ordered by its own government in modern Korean history took place in Kwangju, South Korea. Under the pretext of combating communist subversion, state leaders approved a military intervention to suppress popular unrest, which was actually a manifestation of dissent against the prevailing authoritarian regime. The novel follows the fates of several young heroes whose paths intersect on that fateful night. Those who survived must face persecution from state authorities as well as their own memories of the trauma they experienced.
