Description

September 1962: a young woman, barely twenty-year-old Severina, arrives in a mountain village in the Pyrenees after studying to become a teacher, where she is to serve as a provisional elementary school teacher. Her parents were opponents of General Franco and raised her unconventionally; her mother taught her at home so she wouldn't have to attend regime schools. At first glance, it is clear that Severina does not fit into her new environment: she differs in her thinking, clothing, and behavior. Her attention is immediately drawn to an older charismatic man named Simeón, who also behaves quite unconventionally and deviates from local customs. Neighbors keep their distance from him – some respect him, others ignore or hate him. Simeón temporarily becomes the man of her dreams and fantasies.
