Description
The novel focuses on a relatively small group of characters connected by familial and friendly ties. Primarily, these are the married couple Isabel and Dan and their children; Isabel's brother Robbie, Dan's brother Garth, and his partner. As the world around them changes, family members navigate the storms of adolescence and aging, love and breakups, and learn to move on. And into their already complicated lives intrudes COVID with all its consequences: isolation that deepens problems, widespread distrust, and the threat of death. A fragile, intimate story set between 2019 and 2021 is essentially a masterful series of snapshots, the common denominator of which could be love in the times of a pandemic. Love in all its forms, love according to Michael Cunningham.
