The famous dystopian novel We was written by Zamyatin in 1920, yet it presents a vision of a distant future: life in the 'One State' that emerged in the third millennium after the 'Two Hundred Years' War.' By that time, people no longer suffer from poverty, but they have lost their names and become mere 'numbers.' Women are named with vowels and men with consonants, to which an individual's number is attached. Their lives are completely organized; for example, they must have permission to have a child, otherwise, they are executed. A new edition of this visionary work is being released in a translation by Jakub Šedivý.
