Description
An unknown guest visits the villa on the banks of the Řečovice River. He arrives through an old well and does not belong to the terrestrial world. Hana Strnadová is also more drawn to the world beneath the surface than to interpersonal relationships in the city. Unhappily in love, Jarda Vávra invites Hana's former psychologist, Radka Borská, to help him navigate his complicated relationship. The doctor's initial enthusiasm is replaced by disillusionment and necessary self-defense. Anonymous letters arrive at the Vávra family's mill, and the days begin to taste like spoiled fish. The river lives its own life; after a long drought, the water level unexpectedly rises and returns to the residents what they recklessly threw into it during the winter.
