Description
Published in 1936, this book by Czech legal historian, Charles University professor and politician Jan Kapras provides a detailed account of Italian fascism and its leading figure, Benito Mussolini. In his attempt to analyse fascism and its leader, Kapras captures the nationalist ideology in its early phase, when it is still relatively free of conflict and appears promising from the perspective of its supporters, without anticipating its later development as a historian. Benito Mussolini dominates the book, which follows his career from its beginnings through 1936, when the account ends. Kapras’s work is worth reading as an author’s interpretation of documentary and extensive factual material, as well as an important testimony to the beginning of a historical era. The contents are in Czech.
