Description
Between Benešov and Sedlčany during World War II, there was the largest Waffen-SS base in Europe – the Böhmen military training area. For it to be established, tens of thousands of Czechs living here had to leave their homes, and their property was expropriated by the Greater German Reich. Nevertheless, many remained at the training ground and became employees of the SS. The occupied territory gradually transformed into an intensively used military training area, and when there was a shortage of labor for its construction, prisoners from concentration camps and other camps were deported here for construction work. The book describes the colorful history of the training area, including the stories of the people who found themselves there.
