Description
The book is dedicated to the history and operation of Prague's buses, where passenger transport was provided by buses structurally derived from trucks. The reader will find information about the development and construction of buses from their inception, as well as data on the first unsuccessful attempt to introduce bus transport in Prague (1907–1909), and operational information from the years 1925–1964. The interwar period brought promising development for Prague's urban bus transport, but the war and post-war years marked its decline. The development was influenced by political events as well as the construction of tram and trolleybus lines. The bus fleet ends in 1975, when the last vehicles of this design were delivered to the capital. By the end of the 1970s, buses of this concept were finishing their regular service. A separate chapter covers the history of individual museum buses from the Prague transport company. The text is supplemented by a wealth of visual material, with some information and photographs that have not been published before. The book is intended not only for former drivers, operational staff, or witnesses but also for anyone interested in Prague's buses, regardless of age or knowledge of the topic.
